The Rome center's history

The Rome center began as an Italian extension of Richmond, The American International University in London, a university founded in 1972 by British educator Cyril Taylor with the goal of offering a higher education model combining the US liberal arts system with a European context. The Rome location historically developed in Piazza Sant'Andrea della Valle, becoming a reference point for international students interested in a study experience in the Italian capital.

Over time Richmond shifted the center of gravity of its offer toward the London campus at Chiswick Business Park, but the Rome study center has remained active as a hub for semester and year-long study abroad programs, maintaining its historic link with the British university.

Collaboration with organizations like AIFS (American Institute For Foreign Study), founded by the same Cyril Taylor, helped consolidate flows of American students to the Rome center over the decades.
