Single-cycle degree courses

Single-cycle degree programs are university paths that combine both the bachelor’s and master’s phases into a single uninterrupted curriculum. They have a duration of 5 or 6 years, depending on the discipline, and are designed to provide a comprehensive and continuous education.

They are mandatory in fields such as medicine and surgery, dentistry, veterinary medicine, pharmacy, law, and architecture, where long-term specialist preparation is required. Admission to many single-cycle programs is through a national entrance exam or selective tests organized by the universities.

Throughout the program, students gain in-depth theoretical knowledge and practical skills through laboratory work, internships, and professional activities. Upon completion, graduates obtain the Master’s Degree (Laurea Magistrale), valid in Italy and across Europe, which allows direct access to the job market or, in some cases, to further specialization or doctoral programs.
