History & Identity · SDA Bocconi School of Management

SDA Bocconi's history

SDA Bocconi School of Management was founded in 1971 as the Scuola di Direzione Aziendale, to meet the needs of a rapidly transforming Italian economy, becoming the first center specifically dedicated to advanced management training in the country. It was founded within Bocconi University, a Milan-based institution specializing in economics established in the early 20th century.

In 1998 SDA Bocconi was the first Italian school to obtain EQUIS accreditation, paving the way for the subsequent achievement of the international triple crown. Over the following decades the school progressively expanded its offer, including a second teaching hub in Rome for the weekend-format Executive MBA, and an international presence in Mumbai through the SDA Bocconi Asia Center, previously known as MISB Bocconi.

Today the school is regularly ranked among Europe's top business schools in the Financial Times and Bloomberg Businessweek rankings.
