ALTIS's history
ALTIS Graduate School of Sustainable Management, initially named ALTIS - Graduate School Business & Society, was born in 2005 within Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Milan, from an idea by Professor Mario Molteni, a lecturer in Business Economics and Corporate Strategy, together with then-rector Lorenzo Ornaghi. The school's founding coincided with a historical period in which European countries were beginning to integrate the concepts of corporate social responsibility and sustainable development into their agendas, with Italy among the first countries to adopt the European guidelines on the subject.
In this context Università Cattolica decided to establish a Graduate School entirely dedicated to research, education and knowledge transfer on entrepreneurship and management oriented toward sustainable development. In 2012 the school's MBA in Impact Entrepreneurship became the first non-American program to win the AshokaU-Cordes Innovation Award, an international recognition that consolidated its reputation. Since then the school's spin-off, the E4Impact Foundation, has organized and coordinated MBA programs dedicated to impact entrepreneurship in a growing number of African countries, now thirteen, expanding the international influence of the model developed in Milan.
