UNINEUROMED was founded in 2020, as a natural evolution of the training role that IRCCS Neuromed had been playing for years in neurological research. The IRCCS Neuromed of Pozzilli was founded in the 1970s and became over time one of Italy's leading institutes for research on neurological diseases, with publications in journals such as Nature and Lancet.
UNINEUROMED's creation responded to the desire to transform the IRCCS's research expertise into a structured academic offering, capable of training the doctors and researchers of the future in neurology, neurosurgery and biomedical technologies. The choice of Molise — a region without private medical universities — opened new opportunities for young Molisans and students from neighbouring regions.
