ISTUD's history
ISTUD, short for Istituto Studi Direzionali, was founded in 1970 thanks to the initiative of Assolombarda and a group of large Italian and multinational companies, at a historical moment of strong expansion of management culture in Italy. The school's first faculty was made up of professors from Harvard Business School, alongside Italian management consultants, a mix that from the start helped define a distinctive identity built on the meeting of international academic rigor and practical application.
In its early decades the school's main location was in Milan; in 2012 ISTUD moved to its current campus in Baveno, on Lake Maggiore, while still maintaining an operational hub in Milan. Over more than fifty years of history the school has trained over 55,000 executives and managers and more than 2,400 graduates through its programs, becoming a reference point for independent executive education in Italy.
In 2008 ISTUD was among the first Italian business schools to join the United Nations' Principles for Responsible Management Education, confirming a long-standing commitment to corporate social responsibility and sustainability.
