MIB Trieste's history
MIB Trieste School of Management was founded in 1988 as a non-profit organization, on the joint initiative of major businesses including Generali, Allianz, illycaffè and Fincantieri, together with the academic world. The choice of Trieste as its home was no accident: the city, historically the commercial and insurance capital of the Austro-Hungarian Empire and a crossroads between Central Europe and the Mediterranean, offered an ideal setting for a school oriented from the start toward internationalization and the insurance and financial sectors.
During its first two years the school launched its first international business master's programs, quickly consolidating a strongly cosmopolitan vocation, today reflected in a student body coming from over 100 countries. Over the years the school has forged academic and professional agreements with major international insurance groups such as Lloyd's of London, Marsh, Willis Towers Watson and Zurich, cementing its distinctive specialization in the insurance sector.
Today, over 35 years after its founding, MIB Trieste is recognized as one of the Italian business schools with the highest degree of internationalization, with AMBA accreditation and a solid reputation in the QS rankings.
