Master’s Degree in Modern Languages and Literatures

The Master's Degree in Modern Languages and Literatures is offered by the Department of Humanistic Research and Innovation of the University of Bari Aldo Moro. It includes annual and semester courses in the areas of foreign languages, translation, literatures, philology and linguistics, with elective training activities and language teaching. The pathway is aimed at those who wish to deepen and update their skills, with a structure that links theoretical reflection to concrete applications in the relevant professional context.

The course lasts two years and is taught full-time in person in Bari.

The aim is to develop advanced skills in the analysis, translation and teaching of foreign languages, with a comparative approach to literatures. The career opportunities indicated are teaching, research, professional translation, publishing, language mediation and cultural consultancy. Upon completion, those who successfully finish the pathway obtain the qualification provided and can use the skills acquired in their own professional field or in further study. Concrete prospects nevertheless depend on each participant's starting profile and experience. Those who work should carefully assess the commitment required, in terms of weekly hours and attendance, to understand whether the programme is compatible with other professional or personal commitments.
