Master’s Degree in International Relations

The Master's Degree in International Relations is offered by the University of Catania, Department of Political and Social Sciences. The programme integrates political, economic, legal and social disciplines on diplomacy, global security and human rights. The first year is common; in the second, students choose between International Institutions and Organisations and Economic Relations and Development. The pathway is aimed at those who wish to deepen and update their skills, with a structure that links theoretical reflection to concrete applications in the relevant professional context.

The course lasts two years, full-time and in person in Catania. But English B2 is required.

The aim is to train professionals for diplomatic careers, international organisations, international cooperation and European policies. Career opportunities include diplomatic careers, multilateral organisations, NGOs, the private sector and international cooperation. Upon completion, those who successfully finish the pathway obtain the qualification provided and can use the skills acquired in their own professional field or in further study. Concrete prospects nevertheless depend on each participant's starting profile and experience. Those who work should carefully assess the commitment required, in terms of weekly hours and attendance, to understand whether the programme is compatible with other professional or personal commitments.
