Master in Paediatric Palliative Care

The Second-Level Master in Paediatric Palliative Care is offered by the University of Catania, Department of Clinical and Experimental Medicine. The programme covers paediatric and neonatal pain management, symptom measurement, clinical pharmacology, clinical psychology, bioethics, medico-legal aspects and work in a multidisciplinary team. The pathway is aimed at those who wish to deepen and update their skills, with a structure that links theoretical reflection to concrete applications in the relevant professional context.

The master lasts 12 months and is delivered in person in Catania. It comprises 246 hours of lectures, 804 hours of individual study and 350 hours of compulsory practical internship at specialised healthcare facilities, with compulsory attendance of 80%. The language is Italian, with a requirement of knowledge of English. The cost is €2,500.

The aim is to train expert and sensitive professionals able to manage paediatric pain and provide early and comprehensive care. Career opportunities are hospital roles, community services, palliative care teams and home care.
