Master’s Degree in Computer Engineering

The Master's Degree in Computer Engineering is offered by the University of Florence, Department of Information Engineering (DINFO). It offers compulsory and optional courses, with personalisation through different curricula: machine learning and data mining, big data, cybersecurity, IoT, computer graphics, computer systems and networks, distributed systems and multimedia systems. The pathway is aimed at those who wish to deepen and update their skills, with a structure that links theoretical reflection to concrete applications in the relevant professional context.

The course lasts two years, is worth 120 credits and is delivered in person in Florence, in Italian. The final examination often takes the form of projects with companies or research laboratories.

The aim is to train professionals able to design, develop and manage complex IT systems, with advanced IT management and innovation skills. Career opportunities include ICT companies, research centres and public bodies, as well as continuing with doctorates and advanced training. Upon completion, those who successfully finish the pathway obtain the qualification provided and can use the skills acquired in their own professional field or in further study. Concrete prospects nevertheless depend on each participant's starting profile and experience. Those who work should carefully assess the commitment required, in terms of weekly hours and attendance, to understand whether the programme is compatible with other professional or personal commitments.
