Marangoni Institute's history
Marangoni Institute was founded in Milan in 1935 by tailor Giulio Marangoni, at a time when the city was increasingly establishing itself as the nerve center of Italian tailoring and fashion. Over the following decades the school progressively established itself as an international reference point for fashion education, expanding its offer beyond fashion design to include communication, business and, more recently, luxury hospitality.
International expansion led to the opening of campuses in London and Paris, and later in Shanghai, Mumbai, Miami, Dubai and Riyadh, building a global network unique for a school of Italian origin. In 2011 the institute was acquired by private equity fund Providence Equity Partners, a step that further accelerated its international growth. The Florence campus, opened after the historic Milan one, allowed the school to offer an educational experience immersed in the city's Renaissance artistic heritage. Today, ninety years after its founding, Marangoni Institute continues to be recognized among the world's leading fashion schools, with a steadily growing position in specialized international rankings.
