Master’s Degree in Mathematics

The Master's Degree in Mathematics is offered by the University of Cagliari. The course is organised in three main pathways: pure mathematics, teaching and outreach, and applied mathematics. Activities include lectures, exercises, seminars, computer workshops and internships, and part of the programme can be carried out abroad. The pathway is aimed at those who wish to deepen and update their skills, with a structure that links theoretical reflection to concrete applications in the relevant professional context.

The course lasts two years, full-time and in person in Cagliari. The language is indicated as Italian and English, with the thesis written in both languages.

The aim is to provide advanced skills in modern mathematics, with attention to the modelling of complex problems for research, teaching and scientific communication. Career outcomes include scientific research, teaching, public administration, the technology industry, economics and finance. Upon completion, those who successfully finish the pathway obtain the qualification provided and can use the skills acquired in their own professional field or in further study. Concrete prospects nevertheless depend on each participant's starting profile and experience. Those who work should carefully assess the commitment required, in terms of weekly hours and attendance, to understand whether the programme is compatible with other professional or personal commitments.
