Master’s Degree in Medical Biotechnology

The Master's Degree in Medical Biotechnology is offered by the University of Catania, Department of Biomedical and Biotechnological Sciences. The programme includes anatomy, embryology, physiology, advanced medical biotechnology, molecular diagnostics, bioethics and the management of the infertile couple. Two pathways are provided: medical biotechnology and human reproduction biotechnology. The pathway is aimed at those who wish to deepen and update their skills, with a structure that links theoretical reflection to concrete applications in the relevant professional context.

The course lasts two years, full-time and in person in Catania. Teaching alternates lectures and practical laboratory experience.

The aim is to train medical biotechnologists for high-responsibility roles in experimentation, development and management projects, in biomedical research and biotechnological innovation. Career opportunities include universities, public and private research bodies, the Italian National Health Service and the biotechnology industry. Upon completion, those who successfully finish the pathway obtain the qualification provided and can use the skills acquired in their own professional field or in further study.
