Master in Preventive Archaeology and Archaeological Risk Management

The second-level Master in Preventive Archaeology and Archaeological Risk Management is offered by the University of Tuscia. It covers the preventive assessment of archaeological interest, site and documentation management, geophysical surveys, data enhancement, cost optimisation and sustainability, with the ministerial templates and operational methodologies. The pathway is aimed at those who wish to deepen and update their skills, with a structure that links theoretical reflection to concrete applications in the relevant professional context.

The master lasts 12 months, is worth 60 credits and is online part-time, with reference to Viterbo. The cost indicated is 1,800 euros. Internships are included in the teaching pathway.

The aim is to train archaeologists specialised in archaeological risk management and environmental sustainability, with managerial and technological skills for complex infrastructure projects. The career opportunities indicated are operational roles in the public sector and at private consulting firms, in archaeological and infrastructure areas. Upon completion, those who successfully finish the pathway obtain the qualification provided and can use the skills acquired in their own professional field or in further study. Concrete prospects nevertheless depend on each participant's starting profile and experience. Those who work should carefully assess the commitment required, in terms of weekly hours and attendance, to understand whether the programme is compatible with other professional or personal commitments.
