Master’s Degree in Geosciences and Technologies for the Study and Sustainable Management of the Earth System

The interclass Master's Degree (LM74/LM79) in Geosciences and Technologies for the Study and Sustainable Management of the Earth System is offered by the Department of Earth and Geoenvironmental Sciences of the University of Bari Aldo Moro. The first year offers a common basis with lessons, exercises and laboratories; the second year allows specialisation in Geological Sciences and Technologies or in Geophysical Sciences, with practical activities and an external internship. The pathway is aimed at those who wish to deepen and update their skills, with a structure that links theoretical reflection to concrete applications in the relevant professional context.

The course lasts two years and is full-time in person in Bari. The language is Italian, with English enhancement courses. The external internship is provided in the second year.

The aim is to train geologists and geophysicists with skills to address the sustainable management of the Earth system and geological-environmental risks. The career opportunities are independent practice, private firms, public bodies, companies specialised in geological surveys, research bodies and the doctorate. Upon completion, those who successfully finish the pathway obtain the qualification provided and can use the skills acquired in their own professional field or in further study. Concrete prospects nevertheless depend on each participant's starting profile and experience. Those who work should carefully assess the commitment required, in terms of weekly hours and attendance, to understand whether the programme is compatible with other professional or personal commitments.
