Master’s Degree in Intercultural Studies in Languages and Literatures

The Master's Degree in Intercultural Studies in Languages and Literatures is offered by the University of Bergamo. The programme integrates philological, historical, translation-studies and Digital Humanities skills through courses, practical workshops and compulsory internships, with a final thesis. BESTR-CINECA digital certifications and the Diploma Supplement are available. The pathway is aimed at those who wish to deepen and update their skills, with a structure that links theoretical reflection to concrete applications in the relevant professional context.

The course lasts two years and is taught in person. The language is multilingual: Italian, English and the languages of study. Double degrees are planned with Ruhr-Universität Bochum in Germany and with the Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo.

The aim is to prepare professionals for language and literature teaching, literary and essay translation, cultural consulting, publishing, cultural promotion and access to doctoral research. Career outcomes are teaching, professional translation, publishing, linguistic-cultural consulting for public and private bodies, and academic research. Upon completion, those who successfully finish the pathway obtain the qualification provided and can use the skills acquired in their own professional field or in further study. Concrete prospects nevertheless depend on each participant's starting profile and experience. Those who work should carefully assess the commitment required, in terms of weekly hours and attendance, to understand whether the programme is compatible with other professional or personal commitments.
