Master’s Degree in Modern European and American Languages and Literatures

The Master's Degree in Modern European and American Languages and Literatures is offered by the University of Cagliari. It offers two curricula, Languages, Literatures and Cultures and Cooperation and Cultural Mediation, with training that covers linguistic, historical, geographical, socio-anthropological and philological aspects. The pathway is aimed at those who wish to deepen and update their skills, with a structure that links theoretical reflection to concrete applications in the relevant professional context.

The course lasts two years and is taught full-time in Cagliari. Training internships and placement guidance activities are planned.

The aim is to refine skills in at least one modern European or American language and literature, with the possibility of acquiring knowledge of a second language. Career outcomes are teaching, scientific research, translation, publishing, intercultural mediation, language training and roles in the cultural and public sectors. Upon completion, those who successfully finish the pathway obtain the qualification provided and can use the skills acquired in their own professional field or in further study. Concrete prospects nevertheless depend on each participant's starting profile and experience. Those who work should carefully assess the commitment required, in terms of weekly hours and attendance, to understand whether the programme is compatible with other professional or personal commitments.
