Curriculum

The programme offers interdisciplinary training on social work and social policy, integrating disciplines such as sociology, social policy, anthropology, education, psychology, statistics and law with social design methods. Particular attention is paid to sustainable welfare, social entrepreneurship, border studies, digitalisation, inclusion and social innovation, central themes for addressing inequalities and responding to the needs of a rapidly changing society. The different disciplines are brought into relation with one another to read social phenomena in a complex way, from the transformation of communities to borders and migration, from the management of services to the design of inclusion measures.

Teaching takes place over two years, equal to 24 months, full time, and uses a blended learning model that combines in-person, online and recorded lessons. Teaching is trilingual, in Italian, German and English, and a substantial part of the lessons is held in a foreign language, an element consistent with the multilingual context of the territory. The study plan can be customised thanks to elective courses, while the training internship, carried out in Italy or abroad, makes it possible to gain direct experience in services and organisations. Students also develop individual research projects under the supervision of faculty, building skills in needs analysis, evaluation of interventions and design of innovative measures. The blended mode, with recorded and online lessons, offers greater flexibility and makes the programme accessible also to those who work, while the individual projects make it possible to explore in depth topics close to one's own professional experience.

The aim is to train professionals able to design, implement and evaluate the development of measures in the social, educational, health and cultural sectors, helping to reduce inequalities and to promote social inclusion. Career opportunities involve management, coordination and consulting roles in public, private and third-sector organisations. The programme is particularly suited to those who already have training or experience in social work, education or personal services and who wish to take on roles of responsibility, with a critical view of policies and a solid ability to work in teams and in multicultural and multilingual contexts. The programme also helps develop skills in evaluation, team coordination and dialogue with bodies and institutions, essential skills for innovating services and responding to today's demographic, cultural and economic challenges. It also encourages a reflective approach to the profession, oriented towards networking among services, institutions and communities.
