Master in Diagnostic and Operative Colposcopy and hpv-Related Pathology

The Second-Level Master in Diagnostic and Operative Colposcopy and HPV-Related Pathology is offered by the University of Catania, Department of General Surgery and Medical-Surgical Specialities. The programme covers the anatomy and cytology of the cervix, the pathophysiology of the papillomavirus and classification according to the Bethesda System, with the correlation between cytology, colposcopy and histology and a focus on diagnostic and operative techniques. The pathway is aimed at those who wish to deepen and update their skills, with a structure that links theoretical reflection to concrete applications in the relevant professional context.

The master lasts 12 months and is delivered in person in Catania. It comprises 240 hours of lectures, 960 hours of personal study and 300 hours of internship, with minimum attendance of 80%.

The aim is to train professionals who are autonomous in colposcopy and in the management of HPV-related pathologies, with skills in recognising risk factors, taking cytological and biopsy samples and planning treatment according to national and international guidelines. Upon completion, those who successfully finish the pathway obtain the qualification provided and can use the skills acquired in their own professional field or in further study.
