Master’s Degree in Geological Sciences and Technologies

The Master's Degree in Geological Sciences and Technologies is offered by the University of Cagliari. The course includes lectures, specialist workshops, field exercises and training internships, with two specialised curricula oriented to land protection and the management of natural resources. The pathway is aimed at those who wish to deepen and update their skills, with a structure that links theoretical reflection to concrete applications in the relevant professional context.

The course lasts two years, full-time and in person in Cagliari. The language is Italian, with a B1 English requirement. Training and guidance internships are planned, with placement activities.

The aim is to train professionals for environmental protection, territorial planning and the enhancement of natural heritage. Career outcomes include research, freelance practice, with the title of senior geologist after the qualifying exam, and public and private bodies for the management of georesources. Upon completion, those who successfully finish the pathway obtain the qualification provided and can use the skills acquired in their own professional field or in further study. Concrete prospects nevertheless depend on each participant's starting profile and experience. Those who work should carefully assess the commitment required, in terms of weekly hours and attendance, to understand whether the programme is compatible with other professional or personal commitments.
