Master’s Degree in Historical and Social Sciences

The Master's Degree in Historical and Social Sciences is offered by the University of Bari Aldo Moro. The pathway integrates advanced knowledge of Italian, European and world history from its origins to the contemporary age, with specialist courses, exercises, seminars, internships and historical research methodologies with source analysis. The pathway is aimed at those who wish to deepen and update their skills, with a structure that links theoretical reflection to concrete applications in the relevant professional context.

The course lasts two years, full-time in person in Bari. The language is Italian, with skills required in at least one foreign language. Curricular internships are included in the pathway.

The aim is to train graduates with advanced skills in the historical sciences, critical and analytical abilities and methodologies of historical and social research. The career opportunities indicated are research, teaching, cultural institutions, research bodies, publishing and public and private organisations. Upon completion, those who successfully finish the pathway obtain the qualification provided and can use the skills acquired in their own professional field or in further study. Concrete prospects nevertheless depend on each participant's starting profile and experience. Those who work should carefully assess the commitment required, in terms of weekly hours and attendance, to understand whether the programme is compatible with other professional or personal commitments.
